WHEREAS, Afrikaners in South Africa have been the targets of incitement of violence, racially discriminatory laws by the ANC-led government, threats to their private property through the Expropriation Act, and farm murders; and
WHEREAS, the ANC-led South African government is doubling down on its many race laws, as well as the president of South Africa refusing to condemn the “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer”- chant; and
WHEREAS, we applaud the efforts already undertaken by the Trump administration to highlight these issues and put pressure on the South African government to address these legitimate matters of great concern; and
WHEREAS, we applaud Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s continued condemnation of these human rights abuses, as well as the State Department’s contributions towards investigating and exposing these matters; and
WHEREAS, the refugee status put on the table by President Trump for Afrikaners and other persecuted minorities from South Africa is commendable; millions of Afrikaners choose to remain behind on the land their ancestors have called home for over 3 centuries and more than 10 generations – a land to which their culture and language are indigenous.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in the interest of continuing to build a valuable relationship with a fellow Christian people with Western values at the southern tip of Africa, who have demonstrated a general widespread positive view of America and its people, we call on Texas Republicans to take a firm moral stand against the human rights abuses, inaction on farm murders, and racial discrimination being perpetrated by the ANC-led South African government, and to extend a hand of friendship, support and cooperation to our friends in the Afrikaner community of South Africa.
