WHEREAS, the culture a given people group is a product of a people’s traits, geographic location, and history; and
WHEREAS, the goodness of the familiarity of one’s own native soil and culture and the importance of a shared way of life in the formation and maintenance of functional societies has been affirmed by a multitude of thinkers throughout history including, but not limited to, Plato, John Calvin, and Althusius; and
WHEREAS, the American founders such as John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams also acknowledged this same truth; and
WHEREAS, the American founders such as George Washington and Alexander Hamilton recognized that foreign influence on America erodes the shared way of life of the people and endangers the health of the republic and thus warned against the danger of foreign influence; and
WHEREAS, the percentage of people currently living in America who are foreign born has reached historic highs; and
WHEREAS, due to this, our susceptibility to foreign influence is much greater, which can be seen by the prevalence of a variety of things foreign to historic American culture, including, but not limited to, the celebration of unAmerican holidays such as Diwali or Ramadan, the construction or planned construction of enclaves such as Colony Ridge or EPIC City, or the construction of monuments to foreign gods or religions such as the Hanuman statue in Sugar Land or the Ismaili Center in Houston; and
WHEREAS, although we acknowledge that there are foreigners who do right by America and her people by assimilating to American culture, it is clear from the plethora of examples such as those given above that there are many foreigners who do not.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we call on our leaders to take action to preserve the Texan and American way of life by promoting historic Texan and American culture and limiting the promotion of foreign culture from public offices and communication channels.
